That's a Wrap
While I’m not one for the madness of post-Thanksgiving deal seeking, the realities of holiday shopping are growing near. You won’t catch me among the crowds, but with family and friends across the country, I often need to plan ahead and get my gifts wrapped in advance to allow for time in transit.
This year, Glen and I decided it was high time we designed our own line of gift wrap – something we have wanted to create for a while now. We found the market seems to be lacking interpretative holiday designs, so we took this opportunity to share our take on patterns that are appropriate for the season without literally saying “Merry Christmas” over and over. With the launch of my new column, “The Vibe,” in the Atomic Ranch Winter 2021 issue, timing was aligned perfectly to share our designs with the MCM community.
Our designs draw inspiration from my collection of vintage German holiday ornaments. These lovely, delicate shapes have a distinct mod feel that are a blend of simple, playful, and elegant. Some of my favorite ornaments are tapered cylinders and ogee-like shapes. These silhouettes have been translated into flat, geometric designs in monochromatic palettes, offering a touch of 1960s character and modern holiday elegance to your tree. With this subtle nod to the holidays, the designs are also versatile enough to be used for any occasion throughout the year.
A few tips to elevate your gift wrapping game even further:
Try wrapping gift boxes and lids separately for a custom, high end look.
To contrast patterns, use a solid color satin ribbon. Play with complimentary colors, or a tone-on-tone effect. Think outside traditional red and green!
Top your gifts with a festive holiday pick by wiring together a faux pine branch with mini glass ornaments.
A simple cardstock tag goes a long way in keeping your gifts looking refined and tasteful. Write names with a metallic marker.
Rolls in various lengths of matte or gloss finish are available from our online store. Be sure to look for coupons featured in the shop for extra savings, too!
Happy wrapping, everyone!
